Biography
Alexis Orosa is a filmmaker and photographer who places intimacy and the hidden moments of life at the centre of his work.
His debut film, Embers, is a gritty and poetic portrait of refugees struggling to survive an environmental crisis, and facing the loss of family and those they love.
His second film, Katharsis: κάθαρσις των παθήματων, explores the power and pain of overcoming severe trauma in a mythic tragedy set amidst ocean, fire, blood and smoke.
His first solo exhibition, I Have Only Known Grandeur in Ruins opened at Puzzle Gallery in Sydney in March 2024 and featured in Art Gallery of NSW's Art Walk talks.
